Privacy policy
Effective date: 3 November 2026
Millions of Monsters, Inc. made Impatient Chess, a free real-time chess game you play in your browser at impatientchess.com. This page explains what the game keeps about you, why it keeps it, who can see it, and how to have it deleted. We will not use or share your information except as described here.
Your account
The first time you play, the game makes a guest account for you: a random key kept in your browser and a name such as Guest12345. You never have to give us your name, email address or phone number.
If you sign in with Google or Discord, we ask that service only for the id of your account there, a number, and we keep nothing else it sends. We never see your password, and we do not read your email, contacts, friends or messages.
What others can see
- The name you choose, your ratings and rank, and your results, on the leaderboard, in recent matches and on the board during a match.
- Your 1v1 matches, as replays. Anyone with a replay's share link can watch it, and matches between named players are listed under recent matches on the menu.
- Your friends see whether you are online and where you are in the game (at the menu, in a game or searching for one).
What we keep, and for how long
- Your account, its name, ratings, results, friends and settings, for as long as the account exists. A new account that never chooses a name and never plays is removed after a day.
- Replays of your 1v1 matches: the moves of both players, for 60 days. A replay that someone has shared by link is kept so the link keeps working.
- How the game is used: which screens and modes you open, what you press, how long you spend where and how your games go, with the game's version, your screen size, your country and the link you first came by. These records carry a random id kept in your browser, not your name; once you have an account they are linked to it. We use this to see what is used and to make the game better, and keep it for up to a year. It is stored on our own servers. The web game uses no Google Analytics, no advertising networks and no other trackers.
- While you play, the game tells our servers where you are in it (at the menu, in a game and which mode, or searching for one), so your friends and our count of who is playing are right.
- Error reports, such as an error's message and the browser it happened in, for 14 days.
- Connection reports from online matches, such as ping and frame rate, for 60 days.
- Friend requests that are never answered lapse after 30 days.
Your address and online matches
When you connect, our servers see your IP address. We use it to stop abuse, such as too many new accounts from one place, and to pair you with players near you using a rough location (continent and approximate coordinates) that our hosting provider works out from it. We keep only a scrambled form of the address, for a few hours.
An online match is played between the two players' browsers. When our relay is on, it goes through Cloudflare's relay servers, so that neither player's address reaches the other; the relay passes the match on and does not keep it. When it is not, the two browsers connect directly and each can see the other's network address.
In your browser
The game keeps your settings, your guest key, your Daily Challenge tries and streak, and similar small things in your browser's own storage. Signing in with Google or Discord uses one cookie for up to ten minutes, only while you sign in. We do not use cookies to follow you to other websites.
Services we use
- Cloudflare hosts the game and its servers: Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- Google sign-in, if you choose it: Google's privacy policy.
- Discord sign-in, if you choose it: Discord's privacy policy.
Sharing
We do not sell your information, share it with advertisers or show ads. Other players see only what is listed under What others can see above.
Deleting your information
To have your account and everything kept with it deleted, write to support@chessarena.gg or message us on our Discord server with your name in the game, and we will delete it. To remove what the game keeps in your browser, clear this site's data in your browser's settings.
Children
Impatient Chess is not directed at anyone under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, including encrypted connections. No way of sending or storing information over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
